Mt. St. Helens Summer '09
Me (Jordan) and the girls went up to Mt. St. Helens with Nolan, Travis & Mandy and their kids. It was really windy when we first went up there with the dust and ash blowing around making it kind of hard to see the crater on the mountain. It cleared up at the end and was a pretty nice day overall. We went up to the Johnston Ridge Observatory. This was our first time going to this observatory and it was really nice. They show you a video about the eruption (with sweet animations) and then afterwards the curtain and screen raise and show a nice view of the mountain.
We use to always go up to the Windy Ridge Observatory which is due East of where we were. It has a lot more of the burnt trees and a burnt out car that didn't make down the mountain in time. This spot shows a lot more of the mud flow and destruction. Pretty amazing how powerful mother nature can be.
The mud slide from the eruption didn't make it quite this far, but the pyroclastic flow swept through this area just north of the mountain and took out all of the vegetation. You can still see some of the dead trees blown over. The flow came from the right of the picture. You can still see some of the trees in the background that were burnt, but not knocked down.
The lake on the right was formed from the eruption by damming up one of the streams. You can see how much the Toutle River has carved out all of the ash and mud from the eruption.
The views up there were pretty amazing and I think most of us learned a lot about what happened. We've been to 2 of the Cascade volcanoes this year (3 if you count skiing on Mt. Hood). Maybe we should try to see a couple more.

Trip to Mt. Rainier
We've lived here for 3 years and this is the first time that we've gone up to Mt. Rainier. It only took us about 45 minutes to make it up to the gate park so I think we'll be going again. It was a beautiful day up on the mountain and we took a lot of pictures. Here's a few of them.
I don't know who the guy on the right is, but I laugh every time I see the pic.
The Nisqually glacier is in the background.
Once we got up to Paraside, Dottie and I hiked up a little way (mostly with her on my shoulders) to see the meadow and a better view of the mountain. The mountain kept getting covered up by clouds, but the meadows were pretty.

Overall it was a great day. Can't wait to go back up.

riding bikes
with out training wheels!!! We have been working with Emma to teach her to ride her bike with no success. So I finally just let her go out there and do it herself. Well after about an hour getting comfortable with the bike and watching the neighbor girl, Emma came riding down the street on her bike all by her self. Jordan and I should have known to just let her to it on her own .. that's just Emma.

July Fun
I can't believe it's August in just 2 days. July flew by. Here are some pictures to show what have been up to. We started the month out with fireworks. Allie got to come visit for the day and the girls loved that.
Fun with Sparklers.
Our first time at the Roy parade. It was short and sweet and the girls liked it.
The girls with their cousins awaiting a special Tea Party at Grandma Erickson's house. They love getting dressed up.
Grandma always has the best tea parties!
We also made the trek down to California this year.. something Jordan has been wanting to do for a long time. We are glad we went and hope to get to go again soon. Here we are in front of the Sacramento Temple.

It was very hot in California while we were there... thankfully lots of family members had pools for us to swim in. Here we are at uncle Glens pool. We had lots of fun!
One of the reasons we made the trip to California to visit Grandpa and Grandma Sellers. Dottie had never met them before so it was about time. We had a good time with them and really enjoyed our visit.

Double Digits
I just realized I am down to the double digits on my baby ticker!!! I had my lovely glucose test yesterday. Just waiting on the results.. which I am sure will be fine. I have never had a problem with them in the past.
I have been feeling pretty good... feeling him kick alot. Emma is getting so excited she talks about baby brother all the time and loves giving him hugs and kisses.
