Day 4 NYC

Today we headed to China town.  Very interesting.  You get on the subway and when you get off and walk up the stairs it's like your are in another country.  Jordan loved this part!  Especially when he got to buy something and haggle with them.
Guess you need to protect your car when they literally park bumper to bumper.
After China town we went to eat lunch at Lombardi's.  The first pizzeria in NYC.

 Subway shot again!
Then we headed over to the Museum of Natural History.

This picture cracks me up!  That kid is like what the heck!

 Thanks Andy!
Then we were off to FAO Schwartz.

The apple store! Then it was back to China town for dinner!

Day 3 NYC

Our 3rd day we all drove down to NYC.  The first pictures is us driving in and seeing the city for the first time.  Look at that cemetery.. amazing.  We stayed in a hotel in Brooklyn.  We checked in and immediately headed to the city.
One of our first stops was ground zero.  We didn't do the tour but we walked on the streets around it.
This was Britta pretty much the whole time in NYC.  She did great and even slept at night  too.

And the famous wall street bull.

We then took the Stanton Island ferry to see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.  We heard this was the best way to see her and it was free.  The weather was perfect this day.
On the Ferry.

Statue of Liberty
A view of the city from the ferry.
 New York Stock Exchange

Getting to learn the subways.  So glad we just bought a subway pass.  I think we got pretty good at knowing which trains to take.
Katz's Deli.  The food was so good here.  I wouldn't normally order a pastrami sandwich but we did and it was amazing.

I know you can't tell.. but the man in the leather jacket getting into the car was Liam Neeson.
The view of central park from the top of the Rockefeller center.
New York City scape. Full moon.
We ended that night at Times Square.   Very long day and I think Jordan was literally dragging us along by the time we got to Times Square but glad we got it all in.  Also I am in that bottom picture can you find me?

Day 2 Newport, RI

The 2nd day we hit up Newport, RI.  My sister lives in RI so we were pretty close.  Sadley we did not get to many pictures.  I am not sure why.. Jordan was taking pictures like crazy but most of them looked like the one of me on the bottom of this post.  Anyways.. we toured around Newport for a bit.  It was very pretty.  Drove by all the mansions and the walked down town.

One of the old mansions on the waterfront.  My niece and nephew posing for uncle Jordan.
How would you like to live in that house on your own little island.  I bet they didn't stay there during Sandy.. scary.

10 year anniversary trip Day 1

Well for our 10 year anniversary we decided to go visit my sister in Rhode Island and take a tour of NY and New England.  We took the red eye flight out of Portland and arrived in Boston at 8am and toured Boston that whole day.  I would not suggest anyone to do this but we did it.  Luckily Britta was an awesome little traveler and slept the whole airplane ride.  We did the Freedom Trail in Boston.  Jordan and I both wished that we had brushed up on our history before we walked the trail but it was still fun to see.
 Leif at Paul Revere's headstone.
Look at this old cemetery ( Granary Burying Ground)..   very cool.  They headstones were so old they were just falling apart and sinking into the ground.

The site of the Boston Massacre
Paul Revere's house   It was interesting to see this house with all the tall brick buildings surrounding it.
These are from a duck tour I think it was..  They drive you around town and then they go into the water for a boat tour too.. I think they have these in Seattle too.  But we especially liked these ones..  Look at the names closer.
And Fenway park.  We just did a drive by.  We also drove by Harvard as well.  Very cool old buildings.
And I wish we had a picture of the Ihop we went to for breakfast.. I think that is where we went.  Anyways..  almost the best part of the trip.  We got off the plane and Amy and Andy picked us up and we went to breakfast.  First off this was our first real experience with the Boston accent.  Well mine anyways.  Our waitress was hilarious.  Very blunt.  We walk in and it's small and very crowed I am told right away that I can not set my baby carrier on the ground it's not allowed so I put it on the bench.. also not allowed..  In frustration (remember I took the red eye flight) and I needed to change and feed Britta I just got up and walked out.  I hear the waitress.. "Is she gonna come back" (in thick Boston accent) While I was gone with the baby everyone ordered.  And apparently per our waitress we needed to order more food for the kids because what we ordered was not going to be enough.  HA.  We also wanted separate tickets.. well  she says "I am not going to do that if you want your food brought out at the same time."  While I am typing this it just isn't doing it justice so much funnier in real life.   We just had a great time.  Enjoying new experiences and jumping into new cultures. And I loved the Boston accent.. especially when I heard someone curse it was so funny it didn't even sound like swear words.

Cooper had a Birthday

 Shout Hooray!
Well Cooper turned 3 over a month ago.  He loaded up on super hero gear!  Sadly we did not get any pictures of him blowing out his candles... It was a rush for us.  We headed down to drop the kids off with my parents before flying out to Boston that same night.

For a long time Cooper didn't want to turn 3 he just said.. no I am 2.  Then when he did turn 3 and you asked him how old he was he would answer with 6 or 5 but never 3.  It was funny.  He loves himself some super hero's as you can tell.  He is such a fun little boy and talking and using his big words like crazy.  He loves to help me with Britta and loves being a big brother.  He has a new friend he made in nursery named Joesph but Cooper pronounces it Joe-fuss.  We love you Cooper!
